My sister Robs just sent this: Just LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the new painting, "Monday USA" Now THAT is a SERIOUS poster...nation wide!!! Who cannot relate? I laughed out loud and quivered over the colors and shape of the chicken. Such spontaneous and exuberant creativity. I also reveled in your ARTIST JOURNAL comments on Life’s "dazzling array of possibilities" dated Dec. 17, 2007 . That's something I've been lately thinking a lot about. I believe it's something we all need to think more about. We must not only think about what possibilities eagerly await us and lay within our grasp, but we must take daring steps toward possibilities that beckon us. If we are to hear this world-of-possibilities we may need to take time out, even small moments and stop the chatter that demands….something of us….sometimes EVERYTHING of us. It also can help to do things that we NEVER do or that we think aren’t really us. Do the unordinary because it can break us free of our set ways of behaving and thinking. A long time ago I chose to live an experiential life…I’ve never regretted that decision. I may not have always made the right choice, or been perfect in my reactions and actions….but the important thing is that I MADE a choice and hence allowed the river of my life to continue its flow; it was never dammed. I no longer became immobilize by fear of making a mistake, a wrong choice. I don’t think there are any wrong choices…so I say, “LIVE ON WITH GUSTO!” On my deathbed – if I ever decided to die, which isn’t likely – I will look at my life and KNOW that I have lived. And what a ride! Okay all you Mark Easton Fans, I would love to know your thoughts on living FULLY. Robs NM,USA Continue the discussion! Just go to the bottom of the page and fill out and send the guest book form. star horses by Mark Easton c2007 "star horses" c2007 m.easton My good friend Murray who is an amateur astronomer writes the following: I love "Night Dogs," "Under the cover of Snow," and "Star Horses." Your expansion of your web site is terrific. I'm glad I checked out your Artist's Journal. It is delightful, and enables me to know what is happening with you in your life on a nearly daily stream of conscious diary basis. By the way, I can answer the question you asked on Sept. 19. That bright object in the east before dawn is Venus. Saturn is there too, but it is not as bright and is below Venus. They will both be higher in the sky now at the same time. Interesting coincidence, that the code word I am about to enter below is "Saturn." But then again, you and I both share a love of things celestial and astronomical. Murray, USA Earth Falls by Mark Easton c2007 "Earth Falls" ©2007m.easton The following is from my sister Robs, you can check out her amazing website at www.nakedineden.com. Hey Mark! I just checked out your new little paintings under the SMALL PAINTINGS section. I LOVE them and their titles. I cannot get over how you packed so much emotion, action and feeling into no more than 4" x 5". What also intrigues me is that they are SO simple and yet visually and, more importantly, emotionally complex for me. In “Untitled Zoom” I wondered, "Where is the rabbit running to?" I didn't sense that he was running from something, but that he was on a mission and knew exactly where he was headed and what he wanted. It’s as if he exemplifies the incredible world in which we live and is telling us that Life won't wait for us. It is too busy living and creating to wait for those we are asleep at the wheel. The rabbit painting made me feel happy and joyous, anticipating magic. I love how he is placed in the far corner, as if to say, “Look NOW or you could miss it (Life). The one with the chicken and rooster totally blew my mind because who would relate chickens to a quiet, intimate, midnight talk beneath the stars? I love that thought alone. And yes, of course that is the case with all life. It is only us humans who often don’t stop and listen to the stars. This painting stilled and calmed my insides, as if I stepped away from the frenzy of my life into a peaceful moment, maybe into the real purpose of life. The painting titled, "Playing Checkers at the Denver Art Museum" affected me in several ways. One, I laughed out loud. I just love it! And two, it made me realize that I have to be aware and ask myself if I am thinking "outside the box" so to speak. This painting definitely rearranges my orderly thinking. YES! Thanks for sharing these with us, Mark; what fun. It makes me acutely aware of how art can change our perception of life and ourselves. I also just read your blog and highly recommend it to anyone who as not yet read it. Again, I love its simplicity and honesty of heart. You just are what you are, which is a good reminder for all of us to be ourselves. From my heart, Robin Ran across your site while researching for another project. I just now finished reading your entire blog and I feel more peaceful, more myself than I did when I awoke this morning. Everyone should read your blog before facing their work day. It would help us remember the things that are really important in life. We can get caught up in all the hoopla and work and meetings and doing....as opposed to just being. We end up missing LIFE and the magical things that are happening everyday, the things that you see and write about so well. You not only seem to take in the world around you (in detail), but you also seem willing to share your humanness....your humanity. It makes those of us out here feel like we know you, and you encourage us to let down and slow down in our own lives. The world needs more people who are that real, who speak from their heart. I really dig the new painting BURN MY SOUL. Those eyes are piercingly intense, and the brush strokes in the fur and background are fantastic. I think you'’ve captured the hungry intelligence that so many wild creatures have. It’s like he knows way more than anyone realizes, kind of like he can look right through me and knows EVERYTHING about me. Most wild beings see way more than we give them credit for. Won’t be hiding from this guy. Great job! Thanks man H, USA Your "Artist's Journal" or blog is one of the most exciting I've come across. The writing is evocative and reminds us who we really are and what is really important in life. Thank you for going out on a limb to share your thoughts and feelings so openly. And your art is unpretentious, emotional and raw...beautiful. I like best that you express the ESSENCE of the characters in your paintings as opposed to JUST the physicality of them. Thanks. Edith, USA Site comments - like new background, liked old font better. And what's w/ the artist's statement B&W photo? Looks like day of the dead!! You can appear a little cute and still be taken seriously as an artist. Happy Natal Day! Mystie, USA What a cool website! I especially like your star/astronomy themes. The painting 'I Create' reminds me of a human/spirit meteor in the earth's atmosphere, not burning up, but coming in for a landing. The photo of you with the big grin in the snow is wonderful... spirit and joy! Murray, USA YOU USE BOLD COLORS AND HAVE AN ANCIENT AND VIVID STYLE, A UNIQUE STYLE, THAT IMPARTS A LOT OF EMOTION AND DEPTH AND YET IS WONDERFULLY SIMPLE, BUT VERY DEEP AND COMPLEX IN EMOTION. STEPHEN, USA About your paintings..... I am amazed. I really love them. "I create" and "Returning to Source" seem to me the two sides of the same coin and beautiful expressions of your soul. I am amazed for the detailed perception you have about the colors and your need to express them exactly as you perceive them.I like simple forms, the is a strength, a force that emanate from them. Maria, Argentina Hi Mark, Wow!!! I just love your painting titled "Museum Tour". It is so fascinating in that it makes me ask who is watching and who is being watched? It speaks to me really strongly and its simplicity is stunning. I've never seen anything like it. As I looked at it I realized I was looking at the people in the painting while they looked at the painting on the wall....and then I thought, who is looking at me? That's cool!!! Thanks for sharing such fun and amazing art. It speaks to me on a very primal or primordial level and I get an immediate gut response....and I like it!!! Thanks again for sharing with the world. Dexter, USA I especially love the paintings "I Create" and "Bruised Fruit." "I Create" speaks to me of joy and freedom, of the earth, and of the mystical influence on the act of creation. Robin, Germany Wow! Your paintings have a mythical quality to them- They cut through the mental 'filtering' process quite readily, even just on the computer. It's a different conversation- thanks for that. Hooray for doing what you love Catherine, USA "Your website is a total JOY to visit!! So personal and real; I love the deep and visionary art, it is so beautiful. I am also fascinated by the simple photos... bits and pieces of your life... tiny intimate windows into your soul. The blog is excellent and an inspiration for me. It is written from the heart - no hoky poky. Just love it!" Robin, USA
