Artist Statement
I have always been aware of the beauty in this world, the simple beauty. Like the sunlight across the floor, rippling water, color, the shape of a leaf; the sights that are all around us every day no matter where we live or what we are doing. The ordinary that is exquisitely beautiful. Which I have come to discover is the stillness in the moment, in my breath... the stillness between breaths. It is a journey of self exploration to fling paint, to see what arises on the canvas; painting not what is seen, but what is really there. Every moment we create. We are art. Working with acrylics on gessoed canvas I paint for the sheer joy of colors, to tell a story, to answer a question... to ask questions. I create. Life is a harmonious awareness of all that I am, we are. My painting is like life, a continuous process of growth and learning. To exercise my awareness through painting, to touch the Mystery... that is why I paint. ~~~

I was born in Maine and grew up there, moving out to Estes Park, Colorado five years ago. Three years ago I took up a paint brush and started to paint. My paintings are deeply influenced by those two worlds, the deep woods of Maine and the wild mountains and wide open spaces of the west. These natural worlds come together with my inner spiritual self and from there I create my art. I am a self taught painter working primarily with acrylics on canvas using bold colors, mythological themes and a spiritual voice to speak to that which is deep within us. My love of color and unique composition tells a rich story in each piece. I invite you to enjoy the journey of exploration as you view my paintings. You can learn more about my art through this website. Besides the paintings, you’ll find photos, poetry, prose and sketches, little bits and pieces tucked away in the corners. Feel free to contact me with any questions that you have. jOy! ~~~
