Albuquerque Sketches...
Everyone visits these pages expecting to see wonderful sketches of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Instead you find these two little paintings. I was recovering from food poisoning at my sister's house in ABQ. All I did was lay on her couch, it was the beginning of what turned out to be a very long illness lasting almost a year. The food poisoning put my body's systems completely out of whack, something from which I haven't fully recovered, I am now with my body in a completely different way. It was a big day when I dragged myself off the couch and limped into an art supply store purchasing some paints, canvas panels and brushes. These two paintings are the what came out of them time. The bear clearly shows how I feel and the cave paintings show what I have now come to realize as the passing of a way of life, my way of life before the illness. I love New Mexico, especially northern New Mexico from Taos to Chama to Santa Fe. My own golden triangle. Much of my work is influenced by that area, it sings to me. So actually all my paintings are "New Mexico" sketches.
